Dr. Bjarnason
Stacia K. Bjarnason, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist
I am happy to offer individual, group, and family therapy, assessment and consultation services in a warm, caring, and supportive environment.
When I work with you or your family, it is important that you feel comfortable and understood. I will help you identify and meet your personal or family goals, with a focus on finding your areas of strength, building your resilience, and increasing your ability to cope with challenges. With thoughtfulness about the demands of each person’s life stage and circumstances, I provide treatment consistent with identified “best practices” which may include: Brief Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Family Systems, Play Therapy, Social Skills Training, Interpersonal and Trauma-Informed treatment models.
I am a Connecticut licensed Psychologist and have worked with adults and children with a wide range of needs for over 30 years. I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Ph.D) from the University of Wyoming where I taught courses in Child Development and Adolescent Psychology. I completed my pre-doctoral APA internship and post-doctoral fellowship in Child Psychology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Strong Memorial Hospital. I have extensive training and experience in Pediatric Behavioral Health, working with students in special education settings, and Animal Assisted Therapy (including a professional certificate in Animals and Human Health through the University Of Denver Graduate School Of Social Work.) I am a member of the American Psychological Association.
I am always happy to collaborate with medical doctors, attorneys, in-home therapeutic teams, and school systems to help move towards a brighter and more hopeful future.
