Children & Teens

Years of Expertise & Caring Support

As a parent or caregiver, it is very painful to see your child struggle.  Sometimes you may intuitively know something “just isn’t right.” You may not be sure what is at the root of your child’s difficulties, but something about your child’s behavior has changed or concerns you.

Through individual therapy with your child or teen we can get to the root of what is causing the change in your child.  We can also incorporate family therapy as needed.

Is your child having difficulty at school?

  • Have your child’s grades changed recently?
  • Has your child’s motivation towards school changed?
  • Is it hard for your child to make or maintain friendships?
  • Does your child struggle to understand social cues?
  • Do teachers say that your child “fidgets” too much in class or has trouble focusing?
  • Has your child gotten in trouble at school for aggressive behaviors?
  • Is your child bullied by others?
  • Does your child seem uninterested in making friends?

Does your child seem sad?

  • Does your child seem uninterested in things he/she used to love to do?
  • Has your child withdrawn from social interaction?
  • Does your child struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep?
  • Has your child’s appetite changed recently?
  • Has your child seemed more irritable or angry lately?

Does your child seem to worry too much?

  • Does your child have trouble separating from you?
  • Does your child seem to often feel “sick” or complain of headaches and stomach aches?
  • Does your child have a hard time “letting things go” and worry about things that others don’t?
  • Does your teen seem overly irritated, or easily can feel overwhelmed?
  • Does your child avoid social situations?
  • Does your child or teen avoid new situations that they might find challenging?

Is your child reacting to a difficult family situation?

  • Is there more tension in the house?
  • Has there been a recent change, such as a move, divorce, or death in the family?
  • Are you struggling to figure out how to communicate with your teen?
  • Are your children having difficulty getting along with each other?
